Mary Delaney Cooke

Since 2006 Mary Delaney Cooke, owner and creative director of the Jerry Cooke Archives, Inc., has worked to preserve and publicize five decades of photographic work by acclaimed photographer Jerry Cooke.

Among various projects, Delaney Cooke produced a 25-minute documentary film, Jerry Cooke: The Photographer by filmmaker Lily Henderson. The film includes interviews with many of Jerry Cooke’s friends and colleagues, and explores the extraordinary breadth of Cooke’s work as well as his unique talents.

Mary Delaney Cooke is well versed in various facets of both fine art and commercial art enterprises. She is a fine artist whose artwork has been exhibited at various East End galleries including the Elaine Benson Gallery in Bridgehampton, Lana Santorelli Gallery in Southampton, Gallery Merz in Sag Harbor, and the Guild Hall Members’ Exhibition in East Hampton, New York.

In 2008 she created The Delaney Cooke Gallery in Sag Harbor, New York where she curated numerous successful exhibitions through 2011.  Mary Delaney Cooke also worked as an arts educator, a freelance photographer, professional picture-framer, and gallery assistant in New York and East Hampton. For seven years she served as art assistant at the Elaine Benson Gallery in Bridgehampton. Ms. Delaney Cooke holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of Visual Arts. She studied at Parson’s School of Design, as well as at The Art Students League in New York.

In 1993, Mary Delaney met Jerry Cooke. Their artistic association developed more intimately over time which led to their marriage in 2005.  Ms. Delaney Cooke continues as steward of the Jerry Cooke legacy bringing this fine photographer’s work to a new generation and an ever wider audience.

Mary Delaney Cooke is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and the American Photo Archive Group (APAG)
