The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s New Anna Wintour Costume Center and Jonathan Tisch Gallery Inaugural Exhibition of Charles James Fashion and Beyond Opening Reception on Thursday, May 8th was a lovely event!
Jerry Cooke photographed Charles James in 1947. One of Jerry Cooke’s photographs is in the Charles James Fashion and Beyond catalogue and another on a postcard for sale in the Museum store.

Town & Country Magazine article about Time, Inc. by Michael Wolff

Read the full Town & Country, June/July 2013 article here.

What a nice surprise to see this picture, full page, in a story on the iconic Time Magazine publishing empire.  Jerry started in the Pix, Inc, darkroom in 1939.  He apprenticed with Alfred Eisenstaedt and quickly progressed to photographing assignments for Life and other  magazines.  It’s nice to see this group of accomplished photographers working together with Wilson Hicks during the golden age of photo-journalism.

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Jerry Cooke Archives website. It took a while to launch, but we finally did it.

For the past several years the archive staff has spent many hours cataloging and organizing Jerry’s fine photographs, so that the photographs can be enjoyed by a larger audience, beyond the publishing world.

Please enjoy the great variety of Jerry’s work on these pages. There’s lots more to come in the near future.
